Sailing In Style: The Last 12 Years - A Voyage Through Time and Place

From the innovativeness of America’s tech centers to the wisdom of the pyramids of Egypt, we’ve been lucky enough to witness a symphony of human ingenuity and natural beauty over the past few decades. Now, we’re going to expand our list to almost every country we’ve manage to cross the water with (with a few exceptions).

Here's a closer look at our journey in the last 12 years so far:

United States: A Nation of Diversity

San Francisco:

The charm of this city by the bay stole our hearts. We explored the Golden Gate Bridge, enjoyed the cultural diversity, and even took a ride on the historic cable cars.

Palo Alto:

In the heart of Silicon Valley, we discovered a hub of technological innovation. From Stanford's sprawling campus to the nearby natural beauty, Palo Alto was a fusion of intellect and adventure.

Los Angeles:

Home to Hollywood's stars and creative minds, we sailed into a city where dreams become reality. From its scenic beaches to innovative culinary scene, LA welcomed us with open arms.

Austin:

Known for its live music and thriving arts scene, Austin's slogan is "Keep Austin Weird." It’s a place where creativity thrives, and festivals like SXSW draw international crowds. The city also boasts delicious Tex-Mex cuisine and beautiful outdoor parks.

Dallas:

Dallas, Texas, is a blend of modern city life and old Texas charm. It's home to a thriving business district, rich historical sites, and the famous Dallas Cowboys. The arts district and local steakhouses are must-visit spots.

New York:

The city that never sleeps, New York City is a melting pot of cultures and experiences. From Broadway shows and Times Square to Central Park and world-class museums, there's something for everyone. The culinary options are endless, reflecting the city's diverse heritage.

Las Vegas:

Las Vegas, Nevada's shimmering oasis in the desert, welcomed us with its dazzling neon lights and ceaseless energy. From thrilling casino floors to spectacular shows featuring world-renowned artists, Las Vegas was a playground of entertainment and excitement. Exploring the iconic Strip, we reveled in the city's unique ability to blend fantasy and reality, creating an experience that was both surreal and unforgettable.

Seattle:

Nestled between Puget Sound and lush mountain ranges, Seattle is a city of innovation and natural beauty. Famous for its coffee culture, it's home to tech giants like Microsoft and Amazon. Don't miss the iconic Space Needle and Pike Place Market.

Miami:

Miami is synonymous with beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, and a rich Cuban influence. From the art deco architecture in South Beach to the lively street scenes in Little Havana, it's a tropical and cultural paradise. Water sports and seafood dining are a must.

Europe: A Symphony of Cultures

Germany: The North Sea's Rugged Charm:

Germany's North Sea coast revealed a different side of the country, far from the bustling cities and fairy-tale castles. The wind-swept landscape, dotted with traditional Frisian houses, offered a tranquil retreat. We explored the picturesque harbor town of Husum, often referred to as the "gray town by the sea," where the maritime tradition is alive and well. Sampling local seafood specialties and experiencing the dramatic ebb and flow of the tides and the rugged beauty of the North Sea left an indelible mark in our minds.

Austria:

Austria greeted us with its stunning Alpine landscapes and rich musical heritage. Vienna's opera houses resonated with the works of Mozart and Beethoven, while Salzburg's charm reminded us of "The Sound of Music." A taste of sachertorte was the perfect sweet end to our Austrian experience.

Croatia:

Sailing in a charter together with friends along Croatia's Adriatic coastline was a breathtaking experience. From the ancient walls of Dubrovnik to the turquoise waters of Hvar, Croatia's blend of history and natural beauty was a feast for the senses. Seafood delicacies and local wines made it a gastronomic delight.

Spain:

Spain is a melting pot of cultures and landscapes. From the wild flamenco dancing of Andalusia, to the architectural treasures of Barcelona, to the world-renowned art museums of Madrid, to the stunning beaches of coastal cities like Valencia, Spain has something for everyone. Don’t forget the tapas and the local wines. We sampled them alongside the panoramic views of Lanzarote, Minorca, as well as the beaches of Spain (mainland).

Greece:

Greece is synonymous with ancient ruins, idyllic islands, and delicious Mediterranean cuisine. Athens hosts the iconic Parthenon, while islands like Santorini and Mykonos are famous for their sunsets and nightlife. Olive groves, traditional tavernas, and crystal-clear waters complete the experience.

France:

The elegance of Paris, the charm of Provence, and the glamour of the French Riviera define France's diverse allure. With world-famous art, cuisine, and fashion, France continues to captivate travelers. The Loire Valley's chateaux and Bordeaux's vineyards are must-visit regions.

Netherlands:

The Netherlands welcomed us with its iconic windmills, tulip fields, and vibrant cities like Amsterdam. We explored the famous canals, admired masterpieces in the Rijksmuseum, and felt the innovative spirit of Dutch design. A bike ride through the countryside was a memorable highlight.

Poland:

Poland's rich history is reflected in its medieval towns, royal castles, and World War II sites. Cities like Warsaw and Krakow blend tradition with modernity, offering vibrant cultural experiences. The Tatra Mountains and Białowieża Forest showcase Poland's natural beauty.

Belgium:

Belgium charmed us with its medieval towns like Bruges, famous for its canals and fairy-tale architecture. The rich flavors of Belgian chocolate and waffles tantalized our taste buds, and we couldn't miss a tasting tour of the renowned Trappist breweries.

England:

England's diverse landscape offered something for every traveler. London's cultural landmarks like the Tower Bridge and British Museum were awe-inspiring, while the scenic beauty of the Lake District and Cornish coast invited outdoor exploration. A traditional afternoon tea is always an elegant treat.

Italy:

Italy seduces with its art-filled cities, ancient ruins, and culinary mastery. From Rome's Colosseum to Venice's canals and Tuscany's vineyards, each region offers unique delights. Fashion, opera, and delicious gelato complete the Italian experience.

Exploring Africa, The Caribbean, Asia, and Beyond

Guadeloupe:

A French Caribbean archipelago, Guadeloupe is known for its butterfly shape, lush rainforests, and beautiful beaches. From snorkeling in coral reefs to hiking the La Soufrière volcano, outdoor activities abound. Creole cuisine and Carnival celebrations add local flavor.

Tanzania:

Home to the Serengeti, Mount Kilimanjaro, and Zanzibar's beaches, Tanzania is an adventurer's dream. Wildlife safaris offer close encounters with the "Big Five," while the Swahili Coast's turquoise waters invite relaxation. Maasai culture adds to the rich tapestry.

Thailand:

Chiang Mai's Enchanting Harmony Thailand greeted us with a symphony of colors, flavors, and traditions, and nowhere was this more vivid than in Chiang Mai. Nestled in the northern mountains, this city is a blend of ancient temples and modern energy. We wandered through the old city's labyrinthine streets, discovering hidden temples adorned with golden spires and intricate carvings. 

New Zealand:

New Zealand's breathtaking landscapes range from snowy Alps to verdant rainforests and stunning fjords. Whether exploring Hobbiton or embarking on an adventure sport in Queenstown, there's something for every explorer. Maori culture enriches the experience.

India:

India's diversity spans majestic Himalayan peaks, lush Kerala backwaters, and vibrant cities like Mumbai and Delhi. Rich in history, spirituality, and culinary traditions, it's a land of contrasts and unity. The Taj Mahal stands as a timeless symbol of love.

Russia:

Russia's vast expanse includes the imperial splendors of St. Petersburg, Moscow's Red Square, and Siberian wilderness. Trans-Siberian Railway journeys, ballet performances, and traditional banyas (saunas) showcase the country's diverse cultural heritage. Russian cuisine like borscht and blini are culinary highlights.

Journeying Through The Middle East & North Africa 

Abu Dhabi: 

The capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, offers a blend of traditional culture and modern living. Famous for the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Louvre Abu Dhabi, it's a city of architectural wonders. Desert safaris and waterfront promenades provide outdoor delights.

Egypt: 

The land of pharaohs and pyramids, Egypt is steeped in ancient history and cultural wonders. The Nile River Valley hosts awe-inspiring monuments like the Sphinx and temples of Luxor. Modern Cairo is a bustling metropolis, bridging the gap between past and present. 

Tunisia: 

Tunisia offers a rich blend of Mediterranean charm and North African tradition. From ancient Carthage ruins to sun-kissed beaches and lively souks in Tunis, it's a country of contrasts. The Saharan dunes and Berber villages provide an unforgettable desert experience. 

Bahrain: 

An archipelago in the Persian Gulf, Bahrain is known for its oil wealth, modern architecture, and rich history. Manama, the capital, offers a mix of contemporary living and traditional markets. The Bahrain Fort and National Museum offer glimpses into the region's ancient past. 

Qatar: 

Qatar, a small but wealthy country, boasts impressive skyscrapers, luxurious shopping malls, and cultural gems like the Museum of Islamic Art. The capital city, Doha, blends modernity with tradition. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy dune bashing in the desert.
